If you are looking for a place to settle down and raise a family while still being within a few miles of all the amenities a large town can offer, you wouldn’t find a better place than Enoch, UT. The town has a population of just over 7,000, with the main industry of the town being farming and agriculture. With access to national parks, nature trails, proximity to the main highway of I-15, and pleasant weather all year round, Enoch is the best of both worlds.
Even before the pioneers crossed the plains in the 1840s and 50s, the Enoch area was crossed by the Spanish as a means of transporting valuable goods from Los Angeles and Santa Fe. The Old Spanish Trail, as it came to be known, is still there today. Later in 1851, Enoch was founded by a man named Joel H. Johnson. The area was originally called Johnson’s Spring or Fort Johnson after him. Later in 1890, the area was renamed Enoch (after the biblical figure) to avoid confusion with another settlement in the territory of the same name. The area officially became a town in 1966, and since then, it has shared its prosperity with Cedar City in becoming a small but flourishing community.
